Nature is Good Medicine!
As a society, the combination of increased sedentary behavior, passive screen time, and less time outside than previous generations is leading to health and wellness issues ranging from depression and anxiety to chronic disease.
Being active outdoors and connecting to nature has been proven to improve health and wellness. Nature experiences decrease anxiety and stress. Individuals who recreate outdoors are more physically active than those who do not. Connecting to nature even increases self-esteem and provides individuals with a stronger feeling of social inclusion.
Come Alive Outside’s mission is to inspire collaborative
community systems that create the awareness, intention and opportunity for
people to live healthier lives outside. Our vision is that healthy individuals,
families and communities enjoying the full benefits of great outdoor spaces
where they live, work and play.
